If you’re heading to The Uplands on a night out, make a drink in Noah's Yard a priority. Frequent winner of Swansea’s Best Bar award since it opened in 2009, Noah’s simply oozes urban chic, with its eclectic décor, smartly dressed bar staff and funky, chilled out tunes making for an atmosphere that you would sooner associate with the more upmarket districts of London than South Wales.
Choose from a drinks menu of classy lagers, outrageously named cocktails or delicious fair-trade coffee and take a seat on the comfy leather couches. Couples will find romantic, candle-lit cubby-holes towards the back of the bar, while larger groups can fill up the tables outside, perfect for people-watching on a warm summer’s evening. In the wintertime, cosy up by the wood-burning stove and admire the artwork, historical artefacts and musical memorabilia on the walls.
If you’re a fan of live music, be sure to come along to the jazz night every Monday evening, when some of the best acts in South Wales perform in the intimate downstairs bar. Noah's is a hub for other local events too, with pop-up kitchens, poetry evenings, vintage markets and of course, live music all occurring regularly. Be sure to ask if anything is going on during your visit.
Don’t worry if you don’t see the bar immediately – Noah’s Yard no longer has a sign and is known for changing the lettering above its doors on a daily basis. Depending on the day you may see a humorous take on current affairs, a comment on local issues or in one famous incident, a woman divorcing her husband. It shouldn’t take you long to find it though – Noah’s is the one with the crowds outside every night of the week and the good vibes spilling out onto the street.
